Oh, and jpgs or whatever are slightly fuzzy. I prefer PNG, although i use GIF on my site for IE compatibility.

Methinks ur header is abit too big.
I had a header (in a html, not cms site) just over 256px tall, a nightmare on 1024x768 with 2 or 3 rows of toolbars, the menubar, and a large Dock. Keep in mind some ppl surf w about 4-600px viewing space on the Y axis. Good for you people with the 4000x3000px-odd ...
