If you can login and use phpwcms, php is certainly supported.
So you can edit article and add "code" content or [PHP]your code[/PHP] <-- this is so called "replacement tag"

How much work is it to create an XHTML-valid page with phpwcms.
A little. You have to hardcode littlebit as there are some places without "/>" or something like that - mainly images.
Basically you have to prepare a valid template and stick to css.

I can't create article contents - there is no screen to input the content.
I can't even create summary, but I can create article itself and add the picture to it.
When I try to create content anyway (press the button) I get the following message ...

Dude, this is phpwcms support forum, not some showcase.
But yes - It's high time to transfer your sites to phpwcms.

Since it is controlled by CSS (default: frontend.css), simply modify stylesheet.

If you want to use replacement tags for it, here is the best answer you can imagine

Personally I recommend http://www.easyphp.org/ - It's easy indeed, and it has cool admin panel where you can set aliases for your local webpages, so they can be in any folder on your hdd. This is apache+php+MySql, so everything you need to run phpwcms locally is included.
