Organising forum?

Post by Kosse »

Hi all,

It's snowing outside, it's cold and it's saturday... so here is a proposal: couldn' t we organize the forum a little more with a simple thing: open the FAQ section to post in it? At least for pple who participate in this forum on a nearly daily basis? They know a lot of answers...

Frold and pappnase (not to mention OG...) or even Jérôme (that has to do or decided to do other things), you have a lot of work to do and your own lives... and great families :)
There are a LOT of answers in support, support for dev, hack and enhancements, installation troubleshooting, whatever... the search function is one of the most used items here... but there are 54000 articles, in one or two years we'r good for an encyclopedia :!: :!:

You see a post, a question, you remember the answer is somewhere... you make a search you type XXX AND YYY AND ZZZ, you have 50 results, but not the one you where looking for... you remember seeing it somewhere but don't know where... you type XXX AND ZZZ AND CCC... you have 10 results... but not the post you were looking for... etc...
How many times have we/you/I done that?
I haven't count them but certainly 1/3 answer the same questions again and again... Isn't it pepe, pico? :?

So, what about organizing FAQ a little more?
Example:
FAQ: I can not login! What could it be?
- you have IIS? see posts viewtopic.php?t=xyz....
- you have PHP 3 ? see posts viewtopic.php?t=xyz...
- you have alternative solutions, see posts viewtopic.php?t=xyz...

This is not a one mans work, nor even 2 or three but many pple ...
I'm not saying, olé and now... we all become moderators, Image Image samba, carnaval Image Image

No no, just finding a way to organize it better, like allowing 20/30 pple that express the will to help you out (see posts on a daily basis ;)
What do you think about it? Don't know if it is THE solution (it's not actually) but it could help the beginners (and ourselves too)...
Obviously, posts will have to be ... red and black (the usual ger/en method Image

Cheers
