Installation Problems

Post by macmukka »

I have already checked as many posts as possible and cant work this out. Sorry if the answer is out there.

SYSTEM
system: Windows NT JR-PC 5.1 build 2600
server: Apache/1.3.33 (Win32) PHP/5.0.5
php: v5.0.5
path: c:/program files/apache group/apache/htdocs
php.ini: register_globals = Off -> that's good :)
safe_mode = Off ->
PHPWCMS (VERSION 1.2.5-DEV)

PROBLEMS

I have created a blank MySQL database called hsj.
When I tick create all db tables: sometimes the setup creates the tables, but then reports this error:-
Please proof your database settings. There might be some mistakes!

If I carry on and untick create all db tables: I then have problems when I tick Create Admin Account on the next page and receive this error:-
Check your admin user name and password!

If I untick both boxes and continue to the end of setup, I cannot then login (obviously).

I have tried many things, but am new to all this and struggling.

Can anyone help me? With thanks - macmukka

remove all the tables in your database with phpmyadmin and try again.

I deleted all tables and am still getting the same message on step 1:-
Please proof your database settings. There might be some mistakes!

But in phpadmin it reports that I have 35 tables in my database.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

I'm having the same problem. And I have also checked the forum for answers ...

My environment:

system: Windows NT ANYONE 5.1 build 2600
server: Apache/2.0.54 (Win32) PHP/5.0.5
php: v5.0.5

Maybe there is an answer somewhere out there???

Try using a different install of Apache/PHP/MySQL

I download a WAMP package and although I still get some error messages, everything works for me now.

If you get the error message, try again without the box ticked and it should be infe.

What is WAMP?

Hi bccisp01,

WAMP was a complete package for Windows containing Apache, MySQL and PHP packages. The new name for this package is now XAMPP... ;-)

Troubles Installing

Post by techseer »

I had the same problem with create admin account. It seems that this is not asking for a new admin account and password but rather the **existing** admin and password that controls your mysql database (literally the 'mysql' database that controls other databases, users, etc). I was able to get this from the mysql DBS (me) and once I used this admin and password was able to proceed. I had to leave the "create all db tables" unchecked.

I was able to get past the problems you are having with the installation.

Nonetheless get stuck later with the following DB down message from dbdown.php when I try to go to the phpwcms page:

We are sorry!

For service reasons the system is temporarily not attainable.

Visit us later again!

I am now a veteren of multiple installs! (well 10 or so) when trying to get some MODS to work.

If you want an easy setup on a windows testing box use XAMPP to set up php, mysql and apache. It works well.

I am currently running:-

PHP Version 5.0.5
MySQL 5.0.15
Apache 2

and phpwcms 1.2.5 with a few mods

i've got some other problem... well i have on my system 2 versions. The newest 1.2.6 with is empty... (just started to buld webpage), and some 1.2.5 with i updated to 1.2.6 and there my problem started...

the older one affter upgrade is still marked as 1.2.5 but it got the "keywords" and the db update is done. But in new 1.2.6 is some new function called "phpMyAdmin" under phpinfo(), and in older upgrated version it didn't showed :(

And my question is, how to make this two wersions identical ?? I used:
phpwcms_dev_1.2.6_19.11.2005 - upgrade for 1.2.5
and
phpwcms_dev_1.2.6_27.11.2005 - newest install

I may be in way over my head here, but I have downloaded XAMPP and I am hoping to use it in conjunction with mod-rewrite changes on my site. I understand that I use MySQL, PHP, and Apache... but I don't really get HOW these all work together. Can someone lend me a hand and help me understand how XAMPP can work for me with phpwcms?

Thanks,
