session problems on new installation [solved]

I installed phpwcms on a new domain that has a hyphen in its name (e.g., my-domain.com). When I tried to log on for the first time, I got the following error message:

Warning: session_start(): The session id contains invalid characters, valid characters are only a-z, A-Z and 0-9 in /home/myacct/www/login.php on line 24

I just changed the domain name on the server, but I didn't have any problems with the old domain name (it had no hyphens). Is this a phpwcms problem or a server problem? Anyone know what I can do?

Edit: Figured out the problem. I had a feeling it wasn't related to phpwcms, and it wasn't. Hyphenated domain names seem to work just fine.
