you got a very poor image quality here: http://www.azarja.nl/index.php?portfolio

Don't get me wrong because I really like Flash and have been working with it many years.
But Flash is for websites thet belongs for entertainment, I don't know if a website for a church is where you should use Flash.
The small window up in the right corner of the website don't look to good. You try to get a message out to your visitors and when you have that small window with the text and a lot of moving stuff outside on the website you loose the information you try to send out because the vistors eye catch the Flash stuff instead.
All the other design and spinning wheels make the design take over the website so the message you try to send out gets lost. Thats why I don't like your Flash.
Your text is the one thats importent not the design, of course the design should improve your message and not take over the whole website.

That's a good point, but not valid in any case. If the objective of the site is solely to make an impact as a young, alternative, modern church I think it is valid to use a flash design like this. After all, there hardly is much text people have to read through. At the moment I would think the site does a good job in communicating a certain mood and attitude, which is good peovided it is the desired effect.Jari wrote:Your text is the one thats importent not the design, of course the design should improve your message and not take over the whole website.
I think the text on the home page and the vision are well enough to read. Even the news or schedule sections are just Ok like this. However, foe any more content I would suggest to enlarge the text frame to the botttom and put an extra newsletter section into the navigation.
In my opinion it all depends what the site should do. It is certainly not suitable to provide a lot of information and any pictures and so on. I agree there with Jari. If you want people to really be able to take in the text, especially if you would peovide more in Future I think it is not that suitable. Also if there should be more events and news people will find it difficult to keep an overview (however it's enough I find if people just want to look up the details of a specific event in the current period).
However, your sites main message might not be nessecaryly the text, as Jari implies. The main message might be that you are a "dynamic new church in the heart of the city" and you are modern and not boring - I think this is translated very well through the design and the use of Flash. So if you are a smaller church and have therefore not that much text to put on the Internet I think you are on a good track. (By the way, I think that this site might also prevent you from spending too much time on putting up and updating endless amounts of content that in reality noone will look up. I have the feeling sometimes individuals are spending endless amounts of time investing in websites that are not used, rather than spending that time having real realationships with others).
Thumbs up from me!
This is a valid goal for a website, even if this should be the only oneYoenuts wrote:...to make an impact with the design

Otherwise I'm not able to see what "All channels" is in the newsletter section. That should be made clear.
The pink dot in from of "Home" in the navigation should move to the current selection in the navigation.
Maybe there couldl be a one-line explanation for each link in the links section.
I am missing an email address or an email form in the contact section.
The news section has got events in it. should thid section not rather be called "events"?
Thx for the comments all.
This is the first time we connected flash to wcms. It is fairly easy actually using I frames and targets in the swf file.
I would love to integrate some more but unfortunately I do not have a flash licence (anyone have a spare? or one for sale please feel free to contact me).
The message is to communicatie that there is a brand new church making an actual impact to the centre of Amsterdam.
We are running into the content problem already. This means we probably enlarge the text frame making the site more suitable to larger amounts of text.
