where can i set color of image-caption background? i can't find it

perhaps you mean this:

conf.template_default.inc.php

This was enhanced for image list.

a lot of things aren't in the css.
I'm still undecided as to weather this is a good thing or a bad thing, I can see pro's and con's for each side.

personally i would prefer all of those settings in admin panel

.... would make the most sense for a cms to me
