It seems that currently there is no official support of custom database tables, or of an additional custom (ad hoc) database (with whatever non-phpwcsms data).
One could possibly use dadabik (http://www.dadabik.org/), as mentioned in other threads, and display ad hoc data from any such sources.
My questions:
1. Would it be possible to have someone with phpwcms and dadabik experience give very basic directions on how to integrate phpwcms and dadabik (or perhaps some other similar tool)?
2. Would it be possible to create web-based forms to not only display, but to also enter (ad hoc database) data (in the framework of phpwcms/dadabik), using-custom built forms, after successful authentication (login) of particular front-end or back-end users?
