I use more than one template list file but how to rename and remember them all? For example I have one without title, without sub title, without more link, with column right, column left and many many more, and with deferent colour and style
But the problem is only as I see how to rename and remember all templates for every little change I made? And if I design them different that’s mean I have to create more template file.
Let say you have one template with red colour then you maybe have to create 3-4 more – without title, sub title, more link for example.
And if I create template with blue colour then I have to create 3-4 more. Its many template stuffs to remember. It’s no problem to create them but rename and remember all that? All this because all most I have to test which is which before publish them on index pages. This takes time and wonder if anyone has some nice tip for best rename and remember all them for how they look?
Thanks for your time and please fill free for solution this problem
Rename and remember template file
Hi Stim,
first thing: make a documentation of the template files.
I haven't done this earlier but now i do so to get faster access to template files.
second i choose a filename for them like:
for e.g. Image on left, description on right:
"img_left_txt_right.tmpl"
and so on...
This get me a faster idea what was inside the template files.
easier when working for myself on a web project, with documentation when working with some more people.

Hey Stim, if you are talking about "local" filesystem"
For "limited" usefulness (like figuring which file is for what) maybe you can consider something like this:
XP - http://idea.zanestate.edu/archives/2006 ... e-desktop/
MAC - http://www.lifehacker.com/software/tags ... 169971.php

Hi
I think make documentation its only way, maybe? I don’t know. My biggest name for a template looks like this "without_titel_subtitel_and_morlink_01.tmpl" but on Swedish.
DeXXus, I mean those file in phpwcms_template/inc_cntpart/articlesummary – in folder "article" and "list"
For example this template above there is no info about style as colour or how it looks etc. But can be describing in the name but the name will then bigger.
Other stuffs I think on is maybe create some pages for just template, take snapshot for how them looks and publish them as images on some pages. And rename all them to "List template 1", and for article in full display "Article template" 1 or something.
But In any case it takes lots of time before finally publishing article I think. And just for example here is my step before finally publishing something.
1 Login
2 Go to article
3 Click bottom for create new article
4 Fill free to add title, sub title, content, choose image to display.
5 Choose some list and article template (the hardest part I think)
6 Save and close this page.
And because I almost have to test everything before finally publishing I need to set ON or OFF that functions disable and public stuffs in this moment.
7 Choose and open content for this new article pages.
8 Fill free to add some content or other stuff
9 Upload image to display.
10 Save and close this page.
11 Set ON or OFF functions disable and public stuffs in this moment.
12 Finally published.
Its lots off step to do before finally publish. Any ideas how to handle template file to best remember them or some nice and easier ideas to better handle example steps above? It’s not problem if there is 1 or 2 template but if there is more then 40 or more, different template then its takes lots of time to remember them sometime.
