Author rights for non-admins?

Post by Tomasahl »

Hello.

I would like to make it possible to let guests have author status. I want them to be able to change old texts aswell as writing new ones.
But when a non-admin logs in then he/she can not change already written texts. And i don't want to grant full admin right since i don't want them to be able to for instance allow new admins and so on.
I tried to solve it by adding a group, but I could not find any way to add groups. Maybe I have to change in config or database? Is there no such way,and if it is - can such a group get that kind of rights?

Greetings Tomasahl!

The evolution of phpWCMS has been slow and deliberate. I believe it's development was initially approached with the intent to avoid the tendency to become a "portal" or "clan site" or some kind of "social" engineering application.

Up to now, there has been more emphasis on remaining flexible & lightweight with refinement of the underlying model and additions to features that related to the "content" first, with a few extras thrown in.

Oliver invested much time in the beginning to development and then rewarded himself for the skills and knowledge gained, by taking "paying" jobs to catch up and to gain satisfaction for all the hard work.

He must be "recharged" now, because his recent discussions have talked of new development... including better "collaboration" options (like that which you speak of).

*Most likely*, they are beyond the "drawing board stage" -now-, because several (hacks/addons) by contributors here, appeared in their various forms with some hints for what users wanted in this area (user administration).

But for now... there is no quick fix for you, sorry. I'm afraid you will have to give it a little more time, if you want it integrated as you describe.

Cheers,
