What is different between forum and blog?

Cant I post all my stuff in some forum? I think blog is very hard to understand and you can if you want post all your stuff in forum I suppose? Forum is also structured so you easy can find all topics or other stuff you locking for-

Blog is as I guess very popular but my questions 2 is way? I don’t really understand?

Here is a tentative to differentiate the blogs from forums:

Blog:

• + person is prime (for example "Oliver's blog")
  + is personal, this means that one person write articles
  + other persons often can comment the articel but not write own articles in same blog
  + it is more to state his opinion to a the rest of the world
  + is lacking of sofisticate search functions
  + timely development is main logic of development of blog (diary)

Forum:

• + topic is prime (for example "phpwcms support forum")
  + is made for a community (like here) to exchange information and knowledge
  + all community members can open topics (depending on rights)
  + best possible search function is important
