Very slow thumbnail generation

Helo,

i use ImageMagick to generate thumbnails. It´s runnung as an PHP modul at all-inkl (my Hoster). The quality of the generated thumbnails is much better then using GD2.

But there is one problem. It takes pretty much time untill the script generates thumbnails (backend and frontend). Sometimes it takes about 2 minutes for one image (250 kb, JPEG).

On this server i also ran TYPO3, which uses ImageMagick too, but the thumbnailgeneration there is not slow. Do I make something wrong?
I use PHPWCMS 1.2.6 (same mith PHPWCMS 1.1.9)

Does anybody has this problem too?
