Working work-around for IE flash problem (Eolas patent)

I maintain a wcms website along with another forum member here and as some of you may be aware, a recent update to Internet Explorer has introduced a permanent behaviour change in the way IE handles Flash (embedded objects). In our case we were passing flash vars and a popular fix found here totally ignores our vars, rendering the fix useless.

I found a discussion about this problem here and this post has a fix that works with flash vars. I have applied this fix to our wcms website and it works perfectly. There are several solutions discussed where I got the fix from. I have not tried any of the others so cannot say if the fix I am using is perfect or the best solution available.
