Creating a custom search box.

What I am trying to do it create a custom search. Right now all I can do it add a search dialog by adding a content part. But what I want to do it have a search box above my header image. I can't really figure out how to do this. And I don't want a search button, I want an image that says "go". Anyone help with this?
