I must be very stupid but...

Post by Drakaina »

Hello board,
I decided to use wcms because it looked and sounded much easier than other cms as far as i was concerned (I have no pb with html but when it comes to php I am what you could call a true newbie lol). Plus I was looking for a CMS where i could change the designs on a page basis.. which is another great feature offered by WCMS..

I finally managed to instal the latest version, create site structure and some templates (currently working on those).
I've also created a couple of articles under a specific category but when i click on the category page (which has some internal links refering to the 2 articles I created) I cannot go to the content of the article (i mean i do see the links but even when clicking them the content of article doesn't appear, it stays on the same page as if page was just being refreshed or something)

I also would like to know how to create a link page (something like an exchange links page), a guestbook and how to integrate my already running coppermine gallery within the cms..

I know these are a lot of questions but after almost 15 days of trying to work this out by myself (and reading forum + tutos in english) I am really frustrated and ready to give up on what seemed to be the best cms ever..

Thanks for taking the time to read my post and thanks for the help you might be able to provide ;)

Hi Drakaina,

did you try a replacement tag for the navigation? Does this work?

{NAV_TABLE_COLUMN}

A guesbook is just an other content part: http://www.phpwcms-docu.de/guestbook__comm.phtml

Hey Veit,
Thanks for your help but I managed to have the article show by adding {content} to the bodypart of my template ;)
I did try also (afterward but as I am curious and eager to work I had to try it also) and althought it didn't do what I was looking for, it did create a great sitemap, so I guess i'll be using it in another page to ;)
About the guestbook I am not sure I really understand how content part works quite yet.. I guess I still have many things to learn lol
Thanks for your help :D

Then you didn't notice that there was a {CONTENT} tag (and usage of others) within the template... a HUGE oversight on your part

Lol when I said I was stupid.. See I was right  ^^
Articles are almost done now.. amazing how once you get the trick it's much faster and easier.. Now i have to copy the FR site structure to make the english version of website (I read all about that so I am ok ;))
The link page I am not sure though.. Is there a script allowing people to upload their own links onto my webpage?
Talk to you soon for more updates ;)
