They DO take up a lot of real estate and have "varying" overhead.frold wrote:I still think it is to advance....
I have always been a fan of the Forum Style presented at The Code Project:
http://www.codeproject.com/lounge.asp
It can present thread structures in a smaller amount of space, but can be expanded individually to read particular threads/messages.
I found an basic attempt by someone to partially reproduce it in PHP here:
http://www.brando.com/forum/
But, it is incomplete w/ absence of polish. Didn't even reproduce the "doubly" clickable topics for expanding/contracting. Shame!
If could choose I would choose a simple forum like this
http://www.dudal.com/dcmpage/personlig_info/debat/
it is in danish (and you can not download it) But a forum simple like that I would choose...

One with flexibility of styling is W Agora here:

Thema Topico!
Hello! I am in the process of testing phpwcms as well as two others.
Anyway, as to a forum to integrate, have you checked out Thema Topico? I know nothing about php code, but from the outside, it looks like a good combination of speed/ minimalism and power.

if something is working you are skilled,
if it is not, it is a fault in the system.

Thema Topico has been re-named and can be seen here: http://www.jaia-interactive.com/dev/mytopix/. It seems to be one of the cleanest looking and simple forums that I've seen in a while. They'll be releasing the beta soon.
On my testsite I had mylitlescript (2posts back) reading its member data from the phpwcms usertable and the forum running in an iframe.tngator wrote:Has anyone attempted a member integration script?
There are some things to do:
- I want people registered for the forum and not for phpwcms
Login on phwcms does not mean that you are logged into the forum and vise versa
the iframe solution is a nice workaround only
