hi

i am quite happy with server4you, no problems. no problem with the connection, the email service is sometimes a little bit slow but it was no promblem for me so far. but i have no experience with plesk, i manage the server "by hand".

verträge vergleichen!

Post by consistency »

I agree that the server4u conditions leaves something to wish, but I've seen even worse. I don't really get that this is OK, but maybe it is in Germany. Worst I've seen was '25€/monat' with the condition that you signed up for a year - and that price went to 70€/monat after 6 months. Also with the 3-months condition. That's simply illegal in DK, even thou the danish hosts are cheating as they can get away with (they almost all use the term 'free traffic' while lying thru their teeth).

However, server4u took forever to reply to my mails,m and kept sending me standard answers instead of giving a clear answer. I wasn't too impressed by this, so I'm still looking.

Nice links above, but very few have actual dedicated servers. We're looking for a dedicated with full root access and not shared in any way, preferrably with some kind of Plesk solution, and at under €70/month.

I won't say that I won't take server4u - but I don't care for phone support, I prefer email, and prefer knowing that it's handled right away. With aplus.net, my current provider, I rarely have to wait more than 10-15 minutes for a server restart after an email. Failing hardware etc ofcourse is only fixed at business hours; thats fully acceptable.

@server4you they use a ticket system, which is working. in most cases you get an answer within a businesday. not fast, but ok. but in the most cases they give you standard answer. one time i needed three messages (within a ticket) to get the simple answers (it was about the conditions)

for a reset you can use the admin panel. so you dont have to wait.

if you have special questions to server4you just ask. we also can chat or skype if you like.

Yep we know! And you can do it via SSH and putty - just write "reboot"

BUt in the case we can do it that way it make no sense the server have to be down for a week.. thats not acceptable.

We have also seen the hostservice called http://www.1und1.de It cost more then server4you - but do you know something about them? Good, bad etc.

P.s Alleykat and I share server ;-)

great support is defenitly a different thing.

there was an "announced" server down on the 20.11.2005. their announcement was just a small notice in the memberinterface. who enters the member interface? i enter it rarely, sometimes for traffic checking and sometimes for entering a support ticket. i think for a annoncement for a serverdown a small email notice should be the minimum. server was down. server4you page was down. everything was down. on the next day i entered the member interface to enter a support ticket and found the following text in the news section:
20.10.2005 - 14:29 Uhr
<<snip>>
as i said above, good support would be to receive an email and not make me check my member section every day to not miss an announced server down.
