File Categories

Can someone please explain to me what the File Categories do under the Admin panel? I understand that I can create sub directories but how are they accessed for putting data into?

File categories, as I understand them, are simply a way to categorize them for search in the backend file manager. To be honest, I don't really use them much, as I just place files into logical folders.

Thanks Ben, I've been aiming in that same direction. Ah well, some day we'll have some definitive documentation on this app.
