suggestion:TinyMCE as new multibrowser HTML WYSIWYG editor
Dear Oliver,
I found a very featurerich and well designed alternative WYSIWYG editor and like to suggest it for future implementation in PHPWCMS:
TinyMCE
Here ist the descripton (from the webpage
http://tinymce.moxiecode.com/):
TinyMCE is a platform independent web based Javascript HTML WYSIWYG editor control released as Open Source under LGPL by Moxiecode Systems AB. It has the ability to convert HTML TEXTAREA fields or other HTML elements to editor instances. TinyMCE is very easy to integrate into other CMS systems.
Features
* Easy to integrate, takes only two lines of code.
* Theme and template support.
* Plugin support.
* Easy to extend with custom code.
* Customizable HTML/XHTML 1.0 output. Block invalid elements and force attributes.
* International language support (Language packs) currenly English, Swedish, Italian, German, Czech, Hungarian, Dutch, Finnish, Danish and Arabic and much more.
* Multiple browser support, currently Mozilla, MSIE and FireFox.
Please give also your attention to "IManager" = Image Manager a GLP Project for integretion of image management features into WYSIWYG editors.
Here the description of the webpage:
http://net4visions.com/dev/etomite/mana ... anager.php
net4visions.com - the image manager for WYSIWYG editors like SPAW and tinyMCE!
The image upload module for any PHP based website.
Not only does iManager upload images and supply file management functions, it also adds truecolor image editing functions like:
resize, flip, crop, add text, gamma correct, merge in other image, and many others.
iManager is written and distributed under the GNU General Public License which means that its source code is freely-distributed and available to the general public.
Regards,
Novallis

Hi novallis,
I did take a look at TinyMCE, which looks nice. Just yesterday, I downloaded Mambo 4.5.2, just to take a test run. Apparently Mambo ships with Tiny as its default editor. Having said that TinyMCE's insert image did not work straight out of the box. There has been additional betas of Tiny configurations for Mambo that have been released, so I downloaded (bot_TinyMCE-EXP125beta4) and installed. (Also they have a beta com_tiny (configuration manger - which allows switching between relative and absolute urls). Well I was impressed after installation. Without stating I prefer Mambo (in fact Wcms is far more elegant and designer friendly) I am posting a screen shot of the image manager for Tiny(Mambo)....very nice in that it supports subdirectories, image previews and additional paramters all within one interface:
Btw: the net4visions demo threw an error on page load.
I am sure OliG has a great solution coming for Wcms, nontheless, like you say, Tiny is a nice WYSIWYG package....worth considering....
Cheers....

hello
first the the editor looks nice!
[IRONIC]but maybe it would be a great idea to collect all wysiwyg editors in the net. and ask oliver to implement.[/IRONIC]
sorry but i think 4 editors are enough. lokk at the size of the phpwcms package. then you will see that the most space will be used by the 4 editors.

pappnase: TinyMCE is not just another editor.... it's the fast growing editor ATM and it is 100% mozilla valid - so I think it would be a good alternative for ppl how only use mozilla (more and more do)

so why not have a possibility in wcms to use a wysiwyg-editor choosen by ourself?
so need a plugin-interface and / or know what and where to make changes?
The everyone can use whatever he/she wants.
tiny looks in visual working eyes powerfull when handling pages with lot of graphics.
