I think this is really good, compared to the old form generator. But I have some problems. On the local setup I am using today (Dev 1.2 + Win 98 + JANA SMPT server) I get these issues:
a) It will only send a correctly completed form when I am also logged in as admin in another browser window. Anyone else encountered this?, 'cos I havn't tried it online yet, so it might just be a Win thing.
b) It will only display error messages when required fields are left empty if I use Netscape 6.2 (and then only if I am logged in as admin). Using IE 5.5, I get the 'on success' and 'on error' messages, not the 'incomplete field' ones. Can anyone say if this all works properly in IE 6 and Firefox?. Our XP machine is tied up at the moment so any advance info will be appreciated.
c) Ticked or not, if the 'Kopie an' entry is set to 'Email' it will send a copy of the form to the sender's email address. Therefore, avoid designing a template that says "Some idiot has sent you a form from your website!"
d) A checkbox 'checked' value is normally something like 'Yes'. However the value is normally hidden from the user, so the form will just display:
Smoking: [X]
Vegetarian [ ]
If 'Smoking' was ticked, the checked value appears against the checkbox name in the template email and the others would be blank. E.g.
Smoking: Yes
Vegetarian:
But... the email form displays the value next to the checkbox in the form:
Smoking: [X] Yes
and the checkbox name is displayed in the template if it is unchecked:
Smoking: Yes
Vegetarian: {vegetarian}
Is there a workaround for this?
----edit
Good news is... as colech says, using the above setup, the old form generator works fine. It uses the PHP formmailer. Not required to be logged in to send form. Redirects to my custom success/error pages o.k. Works in IE and NS.

Email-Contact only works when a user is logged in
Hi,
I have problems with the Email-Contact form in the 1.2.1 DEV Version.
Everything works fine, when I'm logged in the content management system in a second browser window. That meants, a email is send, the
form comes back, when fields are not filled an in the top the error message is displayed.
But if I am no more logged in, neither email is send, nor the form with error messages is displayed.
Can anybody help me?
Thanxs a lot
Oliver

Maybe I have a solution for a)

I had the same problem until I switched off the caching in the main page of the article.
Good luck

How to integrated image in contact form?Findus wrote:Hi,
i have the same problem.
But if I test this email form it works fine.
Then I fill in more and more information and suddenly it does not work any more. No email comes in!
I think this error depents on the size of the email form.
Here my big one, not working:

Thx, Paul
Thx Ruby for the cache suggestion. Seems to have solved it.
Anyone know a way I can get a checkbox to return a blank space on the template email when it is not selected? Using the example in my previous post, at present if 'Vegetarian' is un-checked, my template emails says:
Smoking: Yes
Vegetarian: {vegetarian}
and I would like it to display:
Smoking: Yes
Vegetarian:

I also am experiencing some problems with this.
If I deselect on success and on error I receive e-mails from the form.
Upon selecting on success no e-mails are received anymore.
If I fill out the on success field without selecting it, it works also.
Selecting or deselecting the 'on error' field has no real affect on mails being send or not.
Does anyone have a solution for this yet?

We have problems with 1.2 DEV and firefox
Our email form is large, works with internet explorer, but doesn't work with firefox 1.0.4. I believe it did work with 1.0.3.
KOPIE AN: NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY ?
KOPIE AN NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY ?
This applies if you have a form field where you collect an email address from the person using the form.
It appears that if kopie an: is ticked and the dropdown is set as EMAIL(or whatever you have called the email field), a copy of the completed form will always be sent to the address in the form which has the EMAIL field defined (as well as the target email address).
If not ticked but the dropdown is set as EMAIL, a copy of the completed form will be sent to address in the EMAIL field (as well as the target email address), however the FROM field in the email header will be empty.
Sounds open to abuse if I can fill in any bogus email address on my form, and a copy will be sent there?
Only way around it seems to be to select one of the other fields in the Kopie an: dropdown so a copy is not sent to the email address in the EMAIL field of the form.
