New site with a small problem - need help

Post by Gnolen »

Hi there!

I just finished a small site for a client. It is my first XHTML-valid phpwcms that I have done.

edit: Took away the adress..Don't want to steal my clients bandwidth..Problem fixed already..

But I have a small problem on the startpage with it. Inbetween the photo of the woman and the two boxes there is a white space in explorer that I just can't figure out(and do not want there! This doesn't happen in firefox...Why??

Thanks!

edit: I have changed stuff now so the white space is not shown in explorer anymore. But now it doesn't look as it should in firefox instead..

maybe you have set some margin or padding on either the top or the lower div that is read in a different way be IE and FF.

I would check the css first if you have really only specified what is needed.

I'm no expert, so I don't know whatt's going on. But this certainly changes things:

Code: Select all

.area{
	width: auto;
	padding: 19px 30px 0px 40px;
			}
not sure either what effect this has on other browsers...

Very nice site by the way.

Thanks guys!

I took the middleway as Spirelli said and now it looks ok in both browsers...No white space in explorer..but not how it should look in firefox...:o(

hi gnolen,

nice site.

how did you setup the 3 columns on the product page?

created own new content blocks? or just used a table?

*edit: removed the address*

I would prefer if the form fields all had the same width.

Cyrano - Thanks, divs and divs and divs is the answer to create this 3 column.

Brans - I prefer the 'contentbased'-sized boxes because in general people understand more quickly what they are asked to fill in.

hi gnolen,

will do it - perhaps i need some time, but i'll get it :-)

seems to be nice because of light and free space between the content.

did you create the background or did you get this from a resource site?

Brans - could you take away the link you have to my site please. I prefer not to have links about site-problems that my clients can read.

Ok?! Thanks!

done.

But I have still set a link inside the dev forum as a demo for the dthml-menu. I will remove this link next weekend, when we have set up our own demo site.

I guess your clients can't blame you because I have added the link, isn't it ?

Thanks Brans!

That page is totally fine, it is so small and it is not tracked!

Take care!
