My vote would go for something simple and elegant that is consistent with the wcms design and can work with other content parts (images, files)

I would go for a first version limited to sales of online goods (music, photo, software, e-books, etc.).

Why? Because it would be easier to implement, hence faster to release and would be a base to which others could add new functionality. Something like QuickCart from opesolution.org but with a mySQL back-end, of course and PayPal processing. Plus two levels of tax and multiple currencies (so no need for multiple shipping options).

of course with this morsel of information you WILL encourage a feeding frenzy.

First course: what king of functions would you invisage it having Oliver?

I would love to know why you feel it is better... I have to choose a cart solution in the next week or two and would appreciate your feedback.

I will tell you:

- no core hacking for contributions (zenMagic!)
- strict seperate content from layout (you just have to know HTML and CSS!)
- css based layout
- more features from base
- fast progamming crew
- big growig contributions
and much more!

I just discovered http://www.PinnacleCart.com and find it to be a much better e-commerce application than X-Cart, LiteCommerce, ClickCartPro, OSCoommerce or ZenCart. It costs $597 for the first license and $149 for each additional license, I think. The admin interface and reporting are great and there are some great features like automatic thumbnail generation (similar to what phpWCMS does). I will definately be using this for my next e-commerce project.

Has anyone here had experience with Pinnacle Cart? I'd be curious to hear your thoughts.
