is phpwcms for my project???

Post by janice »

Hi,

I am developing a site for a school which requires some sort of cms.
the key things required are that tutors can easily change content on certain parts of the site and students also have password protected access to add content to the site.
there may also be a forum on there at some point in the future.

i have been looking at mambo which seems to be highly rated but the admin side of things looks far too complicated and fussy. Ideally i would like the admin side for the students and tutors to be as simplistic and straight forward as possible.

i wonder if the admin side of phpwcms can be modified at all?
and one last question...are there any css templates that can be used or modified for the frontend?

hope someone can advise me.

thanks

my simple and short notice is:

install it and play around with it and take a look at http://www.phpwcms-docu.de (is also in english) to see what phpwcms can do...

Hey Janice,

i'm develpope the same at the moment.
http://www.executter.org/projekte/bbs

I want to create the design etc. with Version 2
But next week, wednesday is the final date, so i did it with the old version.

I hope this time Oliver keep one's promise and the new Version
WILL come in first week of Jan. (Today or Tommorow)

If not - i'll be disappointed. Again.

okok...
ich hab gerade mal gelesen...

You are NOT allowed to:
- rebrand phpwcms (just give it a different name and thinking it's a code change under GPL)

Ich will mir keinen Ärger einhandeln und auch hier niemanden verärgern.
Die admin.php hat nun auch den Copyright text intus.

MfG

thanks for all the feedback.

as this will be the first cms i am setting up i just have a couple more questions. there will be alot of people accessing the admin section to update content and i need to be sure that security is tight.

are there any considerations i should be aware of regarding client side security before setting up phpwcms?

are the hosting requirements simply that it is unix based, and have mysql and php installed? are there any other considerations?

i have looked for these issues on the forums and in the documentation, but would like some clarification.

thank you.

PLEASE INGNORE THIS POSTING I AM POSTING IT AS A SEPERATE ISSUE HERE http://www.phpwcms.de/forum/viewtopic.php?p=30213#30213
