Once those things have been done once... they create database tables -and- entries. In order to be able to do those same steps again... one would have to "remove" those tables and entries created in the previous attempt.

I still dont get why I have to do stuff in pagelayout. Why can I specify widths and stuff in the template thing.
OFF TOPIC: does phpwcms support things like users, comments, and all those other nice things that come with community portal cms's. News thing, like FusionPHP, and things that show newest articles? Or is this competely different. My ideal CMS would be a combination of what I mentioned and the way phpWcms works. Are their any modules I could install that would add these features?

bah, I dont like doing things like this, anyway I can just make some template from html code and insert the replacement tags? And somehow, poof, that becomes a layout/template that I can apply to specific articles? off topic again, are you using a translation tool?

Hi kaiocool:

I'm a newB too, so maybe I can help you. I also installed the WCMS though the Fantastico (don't ask me about sql). The simple steps to get the index.php working are very simple.

1. Go to the admin section (back end) and go to Admin> Page layout there you define the general spaces of your homepage, if you want so see something in the index.php try some colors in the spaces.

2. Next you will need a template that uses that page layout, the most importan thing is to put there the {content} tag in the main block, and images in the header or other blocks you want. Aslo consider the {NAV_TABLE_COLUMN} to get a menu.

3. Still you dont get nothing, now go to site structure and create the categories you want for your site (the sections).

4. Finally go to Admin > Article and creat an article under the index (website start) and that will be shown in your index.php 8)

Remember that the version that the Fantastico installs is old, i'm going to try to update mine as well  because the newsletter management dosen't work right.

Hope this is helpful, if not ask Pappnase, he's the man around here and he's always there

sweet, yet, I will go with the idea of making the template through HTML and adding the replacement tags. It just seems better for me that way. But after doing that, how would I apply that template to different parts of my site? Because I didnt create it through the backend.

hello

slice the table in the parts you need! header , footer, left, right , main. that the simplest way to do this.
