Changing Layout by Changing Templates

Hi,

I have a phpwcms page with about 50 pages in the meantime. To have a new layout I created a new one, gave it a different name and applied it only to one page to show my client.

Now she said great - I want it. As far as I understood templates are stored in the db so can't just change file names of the templates. Applying a new template to 50 pages is also not my favourite idea of spending my time

- does anybody have an idea how to do that faster?

i had one simple idea! it should be work (but i can not grant for it)!

delete the old one and set the new one to default!

Ups, thanks for the idea - but, I don't dare.

I think I go for creating a third template, copying and pasting the old layout into this one, then copying the second one into the first ...

Uh, all you have to do is set the new layout and template to default. You don't have to delete either of them.

I don't think that will work if the artile are already created GN.
once an article is created it is assigned the default template and that lemplates assosiated layout. once the tamplate is set, regardless of how it was set it will continue to use that tamplate until changed manually. The default box is a 'one time only offer' for the life of the assigned template. By deleting the assigned template all articles assosiated to it revert to using the default template.

I think the smart money is on the temp template idea. it's safer and easy to do.

of course, when i read the post origonally i thought he had fifty artilces each needing a unique template - this is deffinately something a customer would ask for
