Anyone used phpwcms for high volume news service?

We put around 1400 news stories on line every month. Would phpwcms be any good for that sort of volume?
We are currently using Mambo, a very bad decision that I regret!

WCMS should handle it, however you need to watch the size of your table called cache. as this can become very large... I had a site with not so many articles but the cache was sitting at around 600MB!!!
This slowed the admin down a lot...
I beleive this has been fixed, but one should keep a watch on this...

This happens only in older releases. The new one does not have that problem. And caching can be disabled very easy.

I hope frold means he changed code on so many places, updating becomes too time consuming?
