Custom content in header

Just wondering if there is anyway to have the same variable content in the header of ever page without having to edit the header in the template each time you want to change it.
I know I can use the Custom Content feature but this means having to add the same content to every page - a tedious process when you have hundreds of pages,
It's for a client and I'd like to make it as easy as possible so they don't have to edit the page templates - HTMl is not their strong point.
I don't know if it's possible but I just thought I'd ask.
