Google Talk announced...!

Hi all,
today Google announced "Google Talk" (http://www.google.com/talk/), an Instant Messaging and VoIP Service that seems to be based on jabber.

You'll need a gmail account so sign in.

Who doesen't have a gmail account, yet, and has a US mobile phone no, you can get an invitation code via SMS

This looks very interesting...
what about skype... ???

I have used skype now for 2 years and the voice quailty is great.... :-)

As I learnd yesterday by reading some news, skype is using a proprietary protocol for VoIP and will not open this externally. This neams, that you won't be able to use the google client for skyping and vice versa.
On the other hand, skype announced just yesterday to open it's IM protocol, so the community will be able to implement it into third party chat clients (like gaim, trillian, google, ...).

Now I got invitations for Google Mail, too.

So if somewone want's an Google Mail (Gmail) Account
and therewith the ability to also use Google talk, just
contact me with, give me you eMail adress and I'll send
you an invitation.
