Article Summary on Front page of site?

Hi, I know this is a very simple to answer question and I'm sure I'm just missing something very easy, but I've tried getting my articles to appear on the main front page of the site, but all I get is the link to the article itself. I basically just want the summary to appear, like does on many news-type websites on the net. Thank you for any help, I know it's a newbie question but gotta learn somewhere and quite frankly it's gotten me befuddled! :)

Sure did, followed everything in it and still don't know where to go? Tried different replacement tags, tried some hacks I found on that section of this board, nothing seems to work I keep getting the same thing. Do I have to build a template for it? I'm thinking if I do that though I'll still have the problem of getting it on the main page of the site. Thanks for the help!

hello

how did you try it!? did you add more than one article!? if you only add one article you will see the whole!

Tried a summary tag, tried a related tag, and most recently tried a teaser tag but all produced the same results, just the main title and link to the article themselves. I only want the most recent one to appear with a summary only and a link to the entire article, kind of like the same way it looks in Nuke. I have 2 news articles right now located under the news section of the site. Is it possible for the most recent news article to show up on the frontpage of the site? I noticed that if I only had 1 article the full thing showed up and figured that part out.

Any ideas? I'm still trying different things but getting nowhere :(

Should I just make some html and link it like that? That would probably be easiest at this point, but I'm sure there's an easier way to use some replacement tags to do the same thing...

hello

how you mean you tried the summarytag and related tag!?
could you post the page you talk about!?

you could to the following:

inside your news category settings (admin-section): top articles from 5 to 1 and then edit the article listing template (/phpwcms_template/inc_cntpart/articlesummary/list) when having finished this you should apply the template to the articles inside each article's settings.

Ok right now all I'm using is {RELATED:3:news}

I have put "news" as the keyword in all of the articles that I want listed. Still showing just the link to the article itself instead of showing the title, summary, read more... etc.

I'm using the sample.tmpl for the article list but it doesn't seem to be working because all that is showing is the title of the article which is linked.

Thanks again for the help, maybe the light will come on eventually! :)

I assume that you've used the 'content' tag??

Just put {CONTENT} where you want your articles to appear.

From one noob to another, I think I know what you want. Mine is just a demo for now while I get it ready to replace my existing site, but I think I've got the article serving look you're after. http://circpros.com/wcms/

If the way I've got articles appearing it is what you're looking to do, holler and I'll walk you through what I've done to get it to work. If you don't want the article names the way I'm using them, that's easy enough to fix.....

I'm not one to read the manual until I hit a wall. I've fumbled for a few hours trying to get just the article I want to appear in-line with no jumps to other pages. Probably would have been easier to just read a tutorial, b ut I have a better understanding now.....

I went through that tutorial twice now and still not getting anywhere. Maybe someone can hit me up on ICQ or any other IM and help me? Maybe someone could take a look at my backend.... Thanks for everyone on the help so far, learning even though I haven't found a solution yet :)

Tried the content tag but it is the homepage, so it doesn't have specific content I don't believe does it? Its at the top of the site structure, does that mean it would hold everything as content? I like how yours looks only thing is I want the summary and maybe an image to appear as well...

I know this thread has been dead for a while, but I feel the need to bring it up again as this is something I need it solved also.

First of all, I really pity wiegert51, he sure has tried hard enough to explain what he was trying to do and all of you kept misunderstand him.

What he wanted is this:
1. He has a "News" section under the structure, where he already set to display summary of n latest news articles, and that is working fine for him
2. Now he wants to have the same for the home page, where it should show the summary of n number of latest articles. He was wondering how can that be done.

I would like to achieve the same too. Has anyone got an idea?
