More and more post goes german!

Hey,

Where are the english posts on this forum-site?

Maybe Im wrong - but it seems like more and more post is in german and only german.

If phpwcms still have to be attractive for non-german speakers it is very important that the forum is "global".

When ppl install phpwcms many of them say Wauuw. But I think the Wauuw effect shall continue to the forum. Wauuw what a global forum, Wauuw what a fast reply to an answer(ATM I think we have the fastest support forum). In worst cases ppl visit the forum - before installing phpwcms - and think - do this porject offer english support?

The more ppl using phpwcms the more ppl can help development mods/hacks - give support, write documents, make templetes, etc. That's is why I dont want to "scare" some away from this great wcms.

This post is not meant to be negative - it is just meant as a sticky. If you think you are able to write your question in english, then please do so.

As I have said before:
WE NEED A GERMAN-CATEGORIE! The mix of english and german posts is hell.

This is showing the last hours post:

Hi frold,

I'm also for a german and an english forum.

But it involves the risk to obtain doubled entries in both language forums. When a user does not get an answer in his language forum, he certainly tries to get an answer in the other language forum.
It must also be ensured that entries without an answer are being deleted after a certain period to release the space for newer entries. At this time there are approx. 550 empty entries. I don't think that an empty entry written Nov. 2003 is still interesting for anyone and anyone will answer to this thread...

Just my 2 cents...

I agree the forum could be cleaned up - but it takes time....

hello

in the last few days there was a few german post's but there was nothing important or problems to solve wich was already ask in the forum. so pleae be a little patient. but i also think for all hardcore forum users who will speak both langs. it will be the pure horror. and i thik there more important things than to split up the forum.

and as you can see we all as community can answer all questions.

I agree with you that we should try to post everything in english. But I would not try to split this forum in different languages. As mentioned by Joachim, then we will achieve under circumstances a lot of double entries and I have not the time to read everything twice ore more times :-( Unfortunatelly I have no solution for this little Babylon, but as mentioned at the begining, may we can try to post everything in english...

hello

sorry but who should do this! we have now about 30444 threads in the forum! so i think oliver has more important things todo, than split up the forum in german english and sorting the post's!

but if it's so important for you frold and all the others we can ask oliver if he stop work on the next release and so he can sit the next few weeks and sorting the threads!

and frold how often did you start such an thread in the last 1 1/2 years!? and your selcection of new threads (in german) are threads from all over the forum.

that's a problem it self. If it was my forum I would prune posts older then 6 month.
but if it's so important for you frold and all the others we can ask oliver if he stop work on the next release and so he can sit the next few weeks and sorting the threads!
Well from nowon - then if the forum is pruned every 6 month - then in 6 month - all german post is in the german forum part and english in the english part. It is called logistic.
and frold how often did you start such an thread in the last 1 1/2 years!?
What is your point with that? Im a super user of this forum and just try to make the forum better and more clever to use. Maybe I write somethings like this because nothing have changed - even though it is obvious that the forum is messed up.
and your selcection of new threads (in german) are threads from all over the forum.
Yes ofcause - what does that change. Im talking of a whole german section.

Funny that you started a topic about this frold, I was just thinking the same thing.

As I am dutch I can understand written german reasonably well, but I do get a bit irritated about the german language posts on this forum. English is much more accessible for lots of people and it gives the forum a more 'open' feeling. When someone posts a topic in german I feel a bit 'left out' and I am sure that I am not the only one that thinks this way.

I really do think that there is a huge demand for an easy to use CMS, but this way PHPWCMS is going a bit into the direction of (www.)redaxo.de

Maybe a German/English sepration would be helpful, not so sure. I just find that it is harder and harder to finde a specific thread that I know exists in order to help someone. Therefore I strongly agree that old and irrelevant stuff should be thrown away (Just wonder who wants to do that.) Or automatically deleted (However then there should be a possibility to flag very helpful posts to prevent deletion. THese then should be put into categories). Hmmm. Do we need a whole new system, forum?

I totally agree with you Mr. Frold. It is really annoying. :x

I don't think deleting old messages is a good idea. It's way to difficult to set the criteria for which messages can stay and which should be deleted. It would be a shame to delete anything that could be useful for someone in the future.

Although I think everything on this forum should be in english and PM's could be used for german communication, this is an example of a forum where they have separated the english and german posts: http://www.phpbb2.de/forums.html. I wonder what you guys think of this way of organizing.

It is not a problem for me. I just use the forums I need. But I see you point - we can very fast get to many forums and then the whole idea is wasted.
