automatic replacement for PNG - IE transparency problem

It could be nice if phpWCMS can automatically replace all <img> tags with PNG images to correct IE PNG transparency problem.
There are some php solutions but I don't know how to apply them to phpWCMS. Manual replacement is rather painfull especially when you are trying to replace icons in {NAV_TABLE_COLUMN} or internal link list.
