Changing URL displayed to reflect domain name

I have just configured a domain name so that it forwards to the folder on my CGI website that contains phpwcms. When I try an access the domain, my browser is redirected to phpwcms but the URL displayed in the URL bar is now as it always has been and is not based on the domain I typed in.

I have been to the inc.conf.php file and changed $phpwcms["site"] but this has had no effect.

Please could some one who has been here before let me in on the secret. How do I change this so that everything displayed in URL bar is based on the domain?
