WYSIWYG editor and images...

Post by wptzmike »

My question is this:
If I am attempting to create content for an article with the WYSIWYG editor how do I insert an image? I have the images uploaded and I can view them inside of the file management section but I have no idea how to access them from within the WYSISWIG environment.

Thanks,
MJ

Hm....

Open backend in a new window, open file section, drag and drop the picture to WYSIWYG editor?

To use uploaded images you have to insert a 'text with image' or 'images' content part. You can then select the image to use from the file manager. The 'insert image' option in the WYSIWYG editor only inserts 'remote' images, i.e. you need to include a path to the image. Because images uploaded to the file manager are stored in the MySQL database (not as files), you cannot reference them directly from the WYSIWYG editor. 8)

I think spaw also allows you to specify the path for uploaded images if I'm not wrong. So you can select from a folder of images on the system.

I did this little workaround. Make a new page anywhere in the site (you can always delete it later) upload the pictures from your harddisk. In the WYSIWYG editor there is a small image icon that let's you upload. (I have problems on the MAC. You are best off with IE  PC). They will reside in the picture folder, available for all backend users. And no need to resolve the path. I don't know if this was what you were thinking of.
Or make your files public - even though this doesn't always work for me
