Hello. I'm new to phpwcms, and to CMSs in general, but I like the potential of this system and am keen to get it running right, so I hope you can help.

phpwcms is offered by my host as a Fantastico automatic install, and I have done a test install and got the basic system working fine, but I want the site to live on my root, not on the subfolder that Fantastico requires me to install phpwcms into, ie, I want the visitor to arrive at

http://www.mysite.com/, not at http://www.mysite.com/phpwcms/

The site is going to be a big one, largely community based, and for user-friendliness I'd rather have them looking to the root.

I have read the following thread, and unfortunately I'm still very confused despite the good discussion there.

http://www.phpwcms.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1334

Is the end result that phpwcms must either be installed in the same directory as the intended index page, or the root index page must be redirected to the phpwcms directory?

Is there not an easy way to set a target directory for the site in one of the config files?

Any help appreciated.

hello

you can do this in 2 ways!

1. you place a index.html file in the root and make redirection.

2. you reinstall it into the root manually!

Thanks Pappnase :)

I went with a reinstall to the root.

Version.. err.. I'd have to look it up, but when I did the test install I checked and it was the current version download on this site.
