I installed the latest version and if I want to start a guestbook it doesnt go. The new for is asking for an alias ID but is this not if you already made a Guestbook? My brain is to small to understand the new setup of the guestbook. Can somebody please explaine how to proceed?

 Thanks! Jeroen

Hello!
I left the ID blank. But when I try to create a guestbook, in the editor page (edit field) it states "No guestbook entry available".
Instead of this, it creates a guestbook, but it doesn't work. When I try to sign the guestbook it does not function and states "A technical problem occured while you have tried to sign the guestbook".
Could you please tell me why and explain how to rectify this problem.

Best regards,
Sbira

P.S. I installed the new version (2004-08-27). I haven't upgraded it.

Update a brand new install???

I have the same experience as Sbira and I would like to react on the comment of Oliver about the guest book. If you install the latest version of phpwcms completely form scratch and the guest book doesn't work properly. Is the solution to update the database??? With the install of a brand new installation is there any need to update it? base??? :( I would like to add that I'm not a developer but the idea of a cms is that you don't have to be a developer to make it work...I thought. Please understand me correct, I'm still enthousiastic about phpwcms but this guestbook think is simply puzzling me! Is there nobody who can make a simple step by step explanation for this subject? Jeroen

Patches 1, 2 and 3

Hello, I updated my cms with the paches Oliver suggested. Somethings, working now! If I fill in the fields for the guestbook I have to fill in an alaias ID otherwise it says: No guestbook entry and nothing appears in the front of the site. First of all I'm quoting Mr. Pappnase who says: the alias id you only need if you wanna add the guestbook/comm. content part also on another place on your site! normally it can stay blank! This is not what I see, sorry. O.k. I just fill in on the ID field "1" . If I go ahd have a look on the site I see the guestbook!!!! Hurray!!! But... after I fill in the field of the guestbook with e-mail, name., comment etc. and I submit I only see what I put in and my guestbook form is gone! Perhaps there is a simple solution to this, I don't know. But it's certainly not self explainig.

Best regards, Jeroen

you have tested a bit too much ;-)

if you create a new guestbook without an alias ID you will always have no guestbook entry - this is right.

So if ID1 is working - you have just created a guestbook having ID 1.

It's really self explaing - but try to understand how it might/could work.

I try to explain for my self why I only see the thing I put in the guestbook and not the whole guestbook
So this is what's in the db right now but I should see the guestbook too in order to make a new guestbook comment. Where can I also edit the guestbook like in the version before the last of phpwcms to change colours and so on?
