How do I go from this to that?...shadow borders?

I would like to add some shadows to the left and right side of a website that I'm currently working on? I provided two links to illustrate my point.

How do I go from this (http://mike.randm.org/phpwcms/without.html) to this? (http://mike.randm.org/phpwcms/with.html)

Normally, I would figure this out, but time's not on my side at the moment. I was going to just do a quick hack and add an additional <td> to the first table outputted by phpwcms and at the end, but I don't have time to dig through the files. By the way, where can I find that initial <table> code as well as the <body> code?

you have to use css backgrounds.
