I'm embarrassed to even post this site compared to some of the others I've seen. But this is my humble attempt.

Maybe if we still had Button things would be different.

Hallo
1996 328ti
I am proud to see my little background image on your site
It gives your site a sort of 3. dimension, i think
And here i give you another help, to shorten your todo list:
put it into your templates left col ("width:135px" needs an adaption to your site)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<!-- search on the left col //-->
<form action="###search_input_action:
3###" method="post">
{SPACER:5x1}<input name="###search_input_field###" type="text" size="10" maxlength="50" value="###search_input_value###" style="font-size:10px; width:135px;">
<input type="submit" value="search" style="font-size:10px;">
</form>
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The
3 is the ID of the article, where you must place in the content-part "search". The strukture-site, where you have put in this article, can be hidden in the structure-menu.
But - by the way- tell me where is Germantown???

Gee, I hope you don't mind. I really like that background.
Since I lack creativity I must look to others for inspiration.
I am amazed what people are able to do with WCMS.
I added the search but the results don't appear.
I tried this before after searching the forum but had problems.
I just don't understand what the id numbers are all about.
Germantown is located approximately 20 or so miles northwest of Washington, DC. Sorry, me being American I don't know how many kms that is. ;

The

article ID, where you have placed the content-part "search". The structure-point, where you have put in this article, can be hidden in the structure-menu.
You can find the ID you need in the ARTICLE area, if your mouse is over the little red symbol in front of the name of the article, where you have placed in the content-part "search"
That it works that way, you can see on my site under "Neuigkeiten".
This example is only for you
greatings from Germany to Germantown

I know this is the wrong forum for this but. . .
When I select where my search is in the structure I get this
http://www.nccbmwcca.org/phpwcms.php?do ... 36&sort=20
But if I use 36 it does not work.
I will do a search in the proper forum later in the day.

Hallo Steven,

That's fine. Looks good.
In your By-law section you have a very long text. The backround looks not so good there.
Here is a better one for the use in sites with a maximum length of 10.000 px. Please download (right mouseclick) and give it a try.

PS
Why aren't there Fotos of your BMW-beauties on your site. Would be very nice to see some. (I mean cars, no girls

)

I see what you mean now. The new background still isn't longth enough.
I think a better solution would be to break down the by-law section into articles and possible use the next tag.
Eventually we will have member cars. I intend to use phpBB for my gallery.
But you get all the cool cars. In the US we only get what BMW North America think we want.

Hi 1996 328ti,
I know, that you have found a solution for your "long pages". Splitting is your trick. But have a look at this thread.
http://www.phpwcms.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2903
This solution keeps the background fixed, during vertical scrolling.
Give it a try.

Thanks.
I need to make the tables wider.
Not sure where I read a tip about making a template with it's own css was a great idea. It has made updating sections so much easier.
It still is very plain compared to other sites much it is much better than our old html site.

Since it's been more than a year since I posted in this section and realize that little has improved on my site, I'll look for additional input.
http://www.nccbmwcca.org/
The only major difference in improvement froma year ago is the teaser tag.
I would like to have the calendar of events line up below the announcements.
A comment someone gave me was that you had to drill to far down into our chapter programs menu, so I made our chapter programs a separate menu.
The header banner needs to be improved. The height needs to be reduced. I stuck our logo on the right because I had all this extra room. It does not balance the page though.
The site is wider than I would like because of pages like this
http://www.nccbmwcca.org/index.php?id=15,475,0,0,1,0
That data is generated from a program and there it little I can do besides play with the css. Perhaps I should make the results page a popup and reduce the width of the site?
New found feature I love is the ability to copy and paste the site structure.
You can't copy and paste articles, can you?
