FCKEditor Does not Work, No errors, always displays html

We have a site where the FCKEditor stopped working. I replaced the editor with the latest version. I modified the fckstyles.xml file as per the other post, even though we don't get any error. But no matter what we do, all we get is html in editing mode.
Any ideas what I should be looking for? Or files to replace/modify/update?
Thanks

Log into your backend and have a look under "Profile" - check whether the wysiwyg editor is disabled or not

Yes, I have checked the profile settings. But that brings up a good question, since there are sever FCKEditor choices, ie: phpwcms_defult or basic, etc... are some of these not going to work at all?
Anyway, I checked the files onthe site compared to our own site which works fine. I replaced the FCKEditor files again, with those from our site, still no change. I then noticed a difference in the files we have in our Inc_js folder so I tried replacing those, thinking maybe the java script files are messed up. But still no change. But that still raises concerns. See below the major differences between our working site js files and the broken WYSIWYG site js files. The size of Mootools.v1.00 is dramatically different, can anyone explain why that would be. We also have apparently added a shockwave support js file...but I doubt that has anything to do with this. Bottom line, I am still at a loss where to look for the problem. Any other ideas?

Try to delete all files concerned (don't try to overwrite them)
Check the transfer settings of your FTP program. Normally "automatic" should do it (the program will switch into the appropriate mode (e.g. binary for images, ASCII for CGI or txt and so on)
Try uploading again (again: don't try to overwrite old files at this time)

I'll give it a try, but I did not try over writing the files anyway. I renamed the existing Inc_ext folder to inc_ext_bk-up then added our complete folder from our working site. That should have accomplished the same I expect. Maybe I should try the same but do the entire INCLUDE folder, but I was not sure if there would be site specific files that could be affected by that change, so I only tried the inc_ext folder.
Thoughts?
Thanks for your reply by the way.

You talk about identical cms versions?
