Is there some doc about how and what must be upgraded from 1.4.2 to 1.4.5 ? Pleas give me some clue

I have to be honest, these instructions are slightly daunting. I appreciate that they are extremely detailed, but some of the language is a little hard to follow.

I am upgrading from 1.3.9 and would like to upgrade but can't afford to mess it up. Are there any instructions for upgrading from 1.3.9 to 1.4.5 that are perhaps more straightforward?
