Hiding Articles from search function

Post by powlido »

Hi All - I'm hoping that this will be an easy fix!

The story so far....
I have managed to hide specific articles in the protected FE Login area, and although they are not 'accesible' (i.e available to view) from the search function, they do show up there as a search result. When you click on the link, you are redirected to the home page. However If I hide these articles from the search function (by checking the 'hide from search box') the article cannot be found at all - even if you are logged in.

Basically, what I am after is these articles to become available to search and view when a user logs in.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Kind regards,
Paul

A good question! Try another setting like for example:
--> enable the search function = don't checking the 'hide from search box'
--> disable 'public' (leave 'visible' checked)

Please report...

Thanks for the response. Had a go as suggested but no joy I'm afraid. However, I have managed to partially get round it by doing the following.

- Create a Search CP and limited it to the areas I want to allow the Non logged in user to see (Using the 'Start here' selection box). This is then added to template A (which is available for all to see)

- Create a second Search CP under a different menu item. Allow this search CP to 'see' all articles. This CP is then added to template B.

Only logged in users can get to template B, so only they will be able to search and view the 'hidden articles'

The only problem is that the logged in user will have to use the search function on template B to access search and access all articles.

A partial solve?! - any other suggestions please!

kind regards,

Paul

I had an awful feeling that this might happen. Please write another issue to the HQ: http://code.google.com/p/phpwcms/issues/list

This is because the question about WHAT HAPPENS WHEN somebody 'LOGGED IN' has been COMPLETELY ignored.
