Move up / Down - not quite right

Post by jsavage »

This related to the 1 may 2004 version. Not a serious problem but there is someting not quite right about the move up / move down buttons in the Article Centre. I don't know whether anyone else has noticed but sometimes when moving an item down for example, the order displayed to the public is not the order in the centre. No errors are seen and moving the affected items up and doen seems to resolve the issue. Have seen this on about 4 occasions now in 2 days but cant quite work out whether there is a pattern. I think I may have sene this in the structure definition page as well but cant be sure.

:D

yup, I don't doubt it has a logical reason behind the way it is sorted here, and I realise you can't please all the people all the time BUT I would prefer the backend order to be reflected by the frontend order. I would also preffer the order to be as set by the user rather than by the current method.

I think the current method is sort by 'date of last edit'. I can see a reason behind this when used in some news/update type situation it can reduce a lot of leg work, but it does create a lot of legwork for most other situations.

just my little rant, sorry.

Confirmation: There's something not really working...

Also haven't found the pattern yet... but it doesn't work correct. In most cases you even don't see the articles moving in the backend... but they are moved (sometimes).

PLUS: Cut'n'paste also doesn't work...

I'm using RC4 (01-may-2004)

Yes I have noticed to, that the order of articles displayed in the backend, as soon as there are more than 1 article / category, is not the same as ppl see at the frontend...

but the cut'n'past works without any problems!

cut & paste does work in function but I find that on pasting the paste icons are still in operation. I always need to exit/re-enter the articles page in order for the buttons to reflect thier expected state and function.

in short: I cut, paste then can only paste, paste, paste until I leave the articles page and renter.

page refresh does not do the trick
