Re-Implementation of GT-Mod wanted?

Post custom hacks and enhancements for phpwcms here only. Maybe some of these things will be included in official release later.

Re-Implementation of GT-Mod wanted?

Post by Jérôme »

Hey folks,

I don't know if you remember me, but I have developed the GT-Mod some years (decades? centuries?) before, but have been involved in other projects so that I have lost the Mod and phpwcms out of my focus.

In all this time, I have received some requests by email and seen some others here in the forums, and so I wondered if it is the time to give the Mod an overhaul or to make it all new.

Before I will do this, I have some questions:

1) Is there even the need for the GT-Mod?
Is it necessary to do graphical, server-side text-replacement if you also have the possibility to use sifr with which you can dynamically replace through JavaScript text within specified tags with flash elements that are more flexible and gentlier with bandwith?

2) Are there any features that you'd like to see in the GT Mod?
Should the Mod be better integrated in the phpwcms-UI, gain some more features or do you just want some bugfixes?

Optional 3): Which features should that be?

I am curious about your responses :).

Best greetings
- Jérôme

Ooooops! I forgot that the GT Mod has been implemented into the phpwcms core. How could I forget that? Write your answers, if you want, I'll contact Oliver how to proceed with development :).

But my questions are nonetheless valid and your opinions important to me.

Hey - good to "see" the developer of this mod!
One input so far: word wrapping! would be cool, really
Perhaps I'll find more, but so far for now...

Hi Jérôme 8)

This mod is a really great. Thanks for it. :)
Although... while you ask...
Here's what I feel needs to be tweaked
Control over line-height and text wrapping
Regarding line-height, some TT fonts would indeed
benefit from a negative line-height.

Cheers,

Yves

@claus and StudioZ

I added word wrapping today!

;-) just for you....still ironing out a width issue, but this should be fixed today/tomorrow - I'll make a note on my post when it is done...

width issue is now finished. I've uploaded a new copy...

I felt quite pleased with myself...never thought I could do anything like that!

ok - finished it!

just choose PNG-Trans in the styles section!

the images created work in firefox and IE7 but they dont seem to be liked by photoshop! Something I will look at perhaps the header...ah well...it seems to work, enjoy.

I had a perfect working GT-Mod. I replaced it with your new version.

In the backend, I can see the interface with all functions. But if I want to add a font, following errors appears:

Code: Select all

Warning: Missing argument 14 for show_picture() in /home/mediasol/public_html/testarea/include/inc_module/mod_graphical_text/inc_front/gt.func.inc.php on line 158

Warning: Missing argument 15 for show_picture() in /home/mediasol/public_html/testarea/include/inc_module/mod_graphical_text/inc_front/gt.func.inc.php on line 158
What did I wrong?
