i upgraded and all files are now in filearchive. However many of the files were previously deleted and now are still in the filearchive. Is it possible to determine which files the content parts are still using by looking at the database and then running some script to delete the files in filearchive which are not being used? If so, in which table, which field? Also, is this a wise thing to do?

i myself don't know any scripts.

have a look for its subdirectory: can_be_deleted

when deleted files from the system/backend they should be moved there. so, as they aren't needed any more, you can delete those files in 'can_be_deleted' without hazard.
