custom_settings.php - Am I missing something?!

I have made my alterations to this file.
I've also selected custom_settings in the templates in the backend and in the site structure.
I'm not seeing any changes to the pages and source.
Have I missed something?

hi,
yes, i've done all of that. I like to switch off the browser.cache in firefox when I'm doing these thing.

and you have in Mind, that a Lot of these Settings are not used anymore since more and more CP's has their own Template ? also most Navigatin TAG's are now CSS-Based

so more or less everything is in template/inc_default/*.tmpl
That makes sense.
So why keep so many redundant items in the custom_settings.php?

this is alway the Problem with Changing some Functions - most are only for Backward Compatibility necercy

yea... this was about to drive me crazy..... i am so glad I found this post... cause i was here over an hour commenting, uncommenting "@@@@@@@@@" & "Hello worlding" and wasn't seeing nothing ...GRRRR
