safari on windows?
I hope that is not the Microsoft IE for Mac haha - no i think apple seems a bit smarter.
Apple products on windows may look good and maybe works fine, but they are so bloated applications - It's no fun - I don't like to use quicktime/itunes - but I will give a try to safari - now

- oh the installer has finished...

start up is ok, a bit quicker than my extension-bloated Firefox.
site rendering speed is ok, but I've got a lot of gaps and white spaces, seems like it do not render headlines and other format-tags but css layouts are displayed in the right way.
can someone confirm that screenshot?

I think this browser is interesting for developer, but I don't like the simulated apple feeling - a real MacOS or no MacOS but not that fancy crap

Any other should use Firefox/Flock, IE or Opera.

Yes, the same form me.
A lot of white spaces, some words are not showed.

and it's dogged with all sorts of install problems if you happen to have the wrong software/hardware combo... took me an hour to work it out...but a useful tool to have

others with problems check out the Windows Safari Discussions on the Apple Website.

most problems are with text rendering in both the interface and in web pages.

but not with this - think they have an Error in the correct Release-Name

Unfortunately it's only a security update, not an update for the rendering problems...

even on windows, safari is the most innovative and fastest browser available.
there are 500,000 downloads of FF a day and
1,000,000 downloads of iTunes a day.

as far as the safari for windows distribution stuck together with iTunes downloads on win machines it'll be a question of time....

provided that security issues and installation trouble will be fixed soon...

I'm very glad, that I have to bear IE6/7 and other apps from redmond only in testing environments.

Hi,

Why just run safari on windows. Its possible to run mac osx on you're pc. Check http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index ... are_how_to. It took a while to download the mac osx iso file (JaS.Mac.OS.X.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.PPF.1.Defiant.diskutil.biker880.ich7-R.patch.Integrated.iso 4.3Gb works fine) but now I can test alot of browsers on my pc. (ie6/7 firefox, safari, firefox on mac etc.)

and with Mac OS X 10.5.x and BootCamp we can run Vista natively on Intel Macs.

Safari on the Mac is a good browser, but in my experience it has some strange quirks with CSS. If a linked CSS file is missing (even if no longer used) all the stylesheet info can fail. The style 'background' works, but it doesn't seem to like 'background-color' much. The glass buttons are cool, but they overide any CSS button spec.

It will be interesting to see a report on whether the PC version mirrors the behaviour of the Mac version, but until then I wouldn't rely on it.
