Is debian 64-bit with 64-bit amd plus qmail working?[YES]

Hi,
I'm going to rent another server. Now I have the offer to get a 64-bit amd processor and have to choose whether to install a 32-bit or 64-bit debian.
Because I never before did an installation of qmail (+ all addons) into a 64-bit system (only installations into 32-bit until now) before I'd like to know if it's working trouble free - or not. Is somebody out there with such an experience?
On the other hand: what is the real disadvantage of installing a 32-bit debian with a 64-bit processor (because I know this would work out really fine)?
Questions... Perhaps some enlightening answers?
Thank you!
Greetings

Hum
Sorry, only did an install suse 9.3 64 ... can't say by heart any probs caused by 64bit Librays... caused by spam abusing scripts i got wheeling around, installing python and lots of other stuff...
In my opinion without automatic banning, restrictive controlment for "un"opened relayes.... sendmail does the same. And there's the point where problems are born

//Edit: right here on my desk, a booklet "running qmail" abt. 540 sites of knowledge, but where did I leave the time to read this ?

Hi Jürgen,
I did a lot of research this afternoon - qmail, vpopmail, spamassasin and so on can be installed on a 64bit processor with a 64bit debian. Some difficulties seem to be left, but not unsolvable ones
So I will get into another adventure - there havn't been even two identically looking servers with identical install orgies up to now - and this is a new situation now - far out
How many hours will I be sitting there this time consoling and smoothing everything
Reading a book? Sometimes this seems to be the better choice (instead) really...

Hi Jürgen,
seemed a looot of hours that I would loose too - but:
I DID IT! Finally. Almost. (Even that tricky spam and virus thing

)
-Perhaps- I can help you out with some -hints- what to try and do
hetzner ds5000
(same with me) with debian 4 and new webmin (apache module there seems to behave somewhat unusual...?)
Before "throwing your gun into the corn" we could give it a try...
Greetings

4 weeks

- my very first qmail "orgie" happened to be a 72 hour session, with verrry lots of coffee and smoke and no sleep - I just wanted to know it - finding out that I had forgotten a simple "&" in a run script (some nine years ago, running my own server "farm" in my office with a 2mbit sdsl, webmailnameserving a lot of domains)
But you are welcome -
50% off -

again....
"Etch man"

...

- didn't know that before... just plunging in(to) cold water...everytime...

Etched my machine yesterday in a 18 hour gothrough
Claus, my questiion which brings things back to phpwcms:
First site for apache-play was (no question) a 1.3.3
Apache/2.2.3 (Debian) PHP/5.2.0-8+etch1
MYSQL Server: 5.0.32-Debian_7etch1-log
NOOOO Problems excluding the only one:
When uploading pics in data center it denies work

, but loading them with ftp and taking over, no problem at all...
There is no IM installed yet, but GD in a very new version.. don't know if there are dependencies on using a software raid1 on server...
Did you ever see anything like this ?
Out 4 work now
Jürgen
//edit: perhaps should be in php.ini, try to aks masterchief phpwcms tomorow

Just did a file upload into data center (~700KB) and it worked...
php.ini:
256 MB Maximum memory allocation
4 MB Maximum file upload size
8 MB Maximum HTTP POST size
(I needed this for the mailing part)
phpwcms 133 with GD (didn't get ImageMagick working yet...
And the rest seems to be similarly to yours also.
btw: when testing the upload I logged in and clicked at the file center it threw me back to the login screen. With the second login I was able to enter the file center then ... strange.

So this ImageMagick needs the "path to imagemagick= convert" only: /usr/bin/ and not /usr/bin/convert
Now I seem to be able to handle even png with alpha transparency

what a poor guy am I, only 64MB on the same board... I thought to bring all sites to this Server, around 30 plus new, so I liked to leave some RAM for debian.
Thanks for the IM tip, no time for this 'till now, just modifying apache (rewrite)

The next one will be this:
I want to achieve the following:
1.
All requests not handled /defined by a virtual host should go to a default non-https page (ServerName domain.tld ServerAlias www . domain.tld are existing for all virtual hosts. Additionally mail . domain.tld is the MX and all are pointing to the same server (IP))
2.
domain.tld/webmail or
mail.domain.tld/webmail or
mail.domain.tld
(which one would be simpler to set up?)
should go to the webmail folder valid for all domains and should be rewritten to https
Is there any idea about this - how would the default host(s) conf(s) look like in principle?
Thank you
