I am tired of writing long lists of steps to instruct people how to do things on their computer, whether for Outlook or TYPOlight. Can anyone recommend a free or inexpensive Windows screen recorder application? It would be great if it simply output an animated gif. I know there are many apps out there for this, and it isn't so important that I need to spend $300 US for Camtasia Studio.
Thanks for your recommendations.

I also agree with DeXXus, try Wink. Works nice and its free.
I use Adobe/Macromedia Captivate. Captivate is better, bigger and use minimal KB/MB because it take only snapshot on mouse click, and not recording frame bay frame as other software. Mouse animation and click sounds add automatically afterwards by software.
If you want latest version (Captivate 2) you can download test version for 30 day on adobe home page. Enjoy!
