Why the "login" word in portuguese appears wrong written, with stranger symbols?

What I do to change this situation?

My MySQL charset is: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8). This is correct?

Has nothing to do with MySQL. You can try to convert the language files to UTF-8 or encode HTML entities - or switch your install to ISO.
