Hi all.

I am trying to run the installation, and am having a problem I have never had before (I have successfully set up phpwcms on other servers before)

When i run the setup, if I choose "create all tables" I get "please proof your details" message.

When i finish the setup, everything appears OK, but the config file has not been written. The database tables have also not been created.

The only other thing which is different from normal, is that the mysql hostname is something specific (ie not like localhost which i normally use)

I have tried changing the read write properties to 777, but am unable to change these using my ftp client.

Has anyone got any suggestions? Many thanks

Hi,

did you set the file "setup.conf.inc.php" writeable when starting with installation?

May be you can use another FTP Client like Filezilla to set CHMOD rights on the server?

thanks, ill try that, although i think its because the server is IIS, and possibly the permissions cannot be set from ftp clients..

But would this be the problem with creating the db tables anyway?

I've called the tech support for the clients hosting, and their response was that they believed that the creation of tables/content from an installation script such as this would not be possible on their servers. I am not sure whether this guy new what he was talking about, but i know that their hosting also does not allow vpn connections to databases to allow me to just duplicate the database i have on another of my servers.

Unless anyone has any ideas I think Ill have to recommend a switch of hosts!

Cheers

Tom

Install phpMyAdmin and try to cionnect to your database using this way. Then it is easy to create phpwcms' database by simple copy/paste SQL queries from phpwcms_init.sql.
