How are all rights handled?

Hi,

I'm beginning to understand more and more of this system. It's too bad that there isn't very much documentation about this nice script. Maybe some of you can start some documentation project together? Specifically some general description of how to use the system would be nice.

Well, after having said this. I have a question about rights. I don't understand the difference between the public and visible options in the article and structure level screens. Same question about the public and active options in the file manager.

Please enlighten me,
Manolo

The idea behind the public and visible is that you can have content that anyone can see and content that is accessible to others who can login. If something is visible then it is seen by others who login to the admin. If it is public than it can be displayed on the actual site as well. That is more or less the way it works.

To make absolutly clear for myself and for the benefit of others:

Public & Visible = everyone can see the article.
Not Public & Visible = Only Logged on users may see the article.
Not Public & Not Visible = Only the Author may see the article.
public & not visible is the same as not public and not visible.

please correct me if I'm wrong, IonRock, anyone.

I think you've got it! to be honest I don't really use the feature too much but from what i have seen that is how it works.

It doesn't seem to work that way in my system. It doesn't matter if an article is public or not, or visible or not. It always shows up in the article list and other users (no admin) can change the public and visible settings of that article.

And when I choose not visible or not public, nobody can view the article (in the website) even not the author.
